  • 30 former members of the Farc – Ep in the department of Cauca will be trained as Labor Technicians in Coffee Production and Transformation, thanks to the Productive Environment Model designed by the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN).
  • 18 Productive Environments like this have been implemented in the course of the reincorporation process, thereby benefiting 927 ex-combatants of Farc-Ep and members of the community throughout the national territory.

The Productive Environments model for the transformation of coffee will have a blended approach of delivery, and is part of the Training Strategy for Work and Human Development, which seeks to enhance the capacities, abilities and skills of people in the process of reincorporation to facilitate their economic insertion.

Preventive measures will be taken during this training to guarantee the health of ex-combatants in the face of the emergency generated by Covid-19. Delivery will be blended: 1 virtual month – in which theoretical knowledge will be consolidated – and 2 months of internships at the Coffee Innovation Technological Park (Tecnicafé).

"With this model, we seek to train ex-combatants as business entrepreneurs related to products derived from coffee. Through collective or individual projects, these beneficiaries enter the market of differentiated coffees and contribute to the development of their municipality with the creation of productive units connected to the local, national and international scope ", indicated ARN General Director Andrés Stapper Segrera. "This is important for us, the beneficiaries of the reincorporation process, as we are in a process where we need to learn. I am grateful to ARN for giving us this training," said Wilmer Pacho Quitumbo, a trainee currently undergoing his reincorporation process. The Productive Environment Model is possible thanks to funding from the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the support of the National Learning Service (Sena), the Coffee Innovation Technological Park (Tecnicafé) and the Government of Cauca.
