Colombia was delegated as co-chair of the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Training Group last November 3rd, through the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization ARN (IDDRTG).
18 years of experience in the development of reintegration and reincorporation processes have allowed ARN to provide technical assistance for the construction of new standards that contribute to prevent the escalation of conflicts.
Since 2019, Colombia is a member of the IDDRTG composed of international organizations such as Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Folke Bernadotte Academy, Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding, Bonn International Center for Conversion, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, inter alia.
The 18 years of experience in the development of reintegration and reincorporation processes for ex-combatants of illegal armed groups in Colombia, through the work led by the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN), has allowed the agency to be delegated as co-chair of the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Training Group (IDDRTG).
From Ghana, Africa, ARN Director General Andrés Stapper highlighted the assistance provided by Colombia, through the agency, for the construction of the new integrated standards, with the purpose of contributing to prevent the escalation of conflicts, create security, promote gender equality, rebuild the social fabric, and develop human capacity.

The country, recognized as a case of success, has provided technical assistance in the areas of productive strategies, economic sustainability, co-responsibility, monitoring and assessment, community intervention, psychosocial care, inter alia.
The ARN has also shared information and concepts on general approach, political dimension, legal dimension, and community reduction of violence.
“These scenarios allow us to record the knowledge and experience of the United Nations, as well as the contributions of other agencies and organizations in this field, and that is why our participation is so important", said Director General Andres Stapper.
Colombia through the ARN has been part of the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Training Group, IDDRTG, together with international organizations since 2019.
