Bogota, July 29, 2020.

With an investment of $ 7.278 billion, the Ministry of National Education and the Norwegian Council, with the accompaniment of the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN), will continue the 'Arando la Educación' project, starting in August 2020 for the benefit of ex - combatants. 

In the framework of the session No. 111  of the National Council of Reincorporation (CNR – Consejo Nacional de Reincorporación - for its acronym in Spanish), the continuity of the project 'Arando la Educación' in the second half of 2020 was announced for the benefit of the ex - combatant population of the Farc - Ep that lives in the former Training and Reincorporation Territorial Spaces (ETCR – Espacios Territoriales de Capacitación y Reincorporación - for its acronym in Spanish), their families and the people from the surrounding communities. 

'Arando la Educación' is a project led by the Ministry of National Education and the Norwegian Council for Refugees with the accompaniment of the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN) and which has been implemented throughout the national territory since 2017. 

In the fourth phase of the project, which ended in May 2020, the program benefited 6,726 people of whom 1,374 were reincorporated (38 % are women and 62 % are men) and 5,354 inhabitants of the surrounding communities (64 % women and 36 % men). 

Andrés Stapper, ARN general director general, indicated that "such initiatives of the National Government, in combination with international cooperation, allow the process of reincorporation to move forward, in this case, ensuring access to education for ex - combatants to acquire skills that allow them to build a life project". 

Fidel Antonio Sanabria Sierra, one of the students benefited from the program and who recently obtained his bachelor's degree in San Vicente del Caguán, Caquetá says "through the acquired training and learnings I can serve the country and remain committed to peace". 

For its part, the Ministry of National Education stated that "it is essential to continue contributing through processes such as 'Arando la Educación' to the strengthening of the fabric and social development in the territories where reincorporation is in progress, contributing to the community reconciliation and the construction of the life projects of this population, in compliance with the National Reincorporation Policy (Política Nacional de Reincorporación - in Spanish)" 

Educational care, in the fifth phase of the project will be carried out remotely and with an alternation scheme, in accordance with the guidance given by the National Government facing the health emergency caused by Covid - 19. 

In this way, the formal adult educational care will continue to participants with accompaniment, relevance and educational quality in each school cycle that is carried out.
