Economist from Universidad del Valle, master's degree in political science, Government and International Relations from the Javeriana University. She previously served as a professor and Dean from the Faculty of Accounting and Economic Sciences at the Cauca University and as Secretary of the Cauca Government Department. For four years she served as a member of the “Commission for the Clarification of the Truth", leading the chapter from the Final Report of the Commission, titled: “My body is my truth", describing the experiences of women and the LGTBIQ+ population along different stages of the internal conflict in Colombia. Currently, she is a well-recognized leader of the Feminist Movement and sin Colombia and a representative member of the Women's Rights Organization “Pacific Route of Women"​
